Questions

When is the best time to raft the Kennebec River in Maine ?
Thanks to the scheduled daily dam releases we are able to raft the Kennebec River daily May through October.

Do I have to know how to swim?

Knowing how to swim is not a pre requisite on our river trips. The type V pfd we will give you is designed to float you high in whitewater conditions. On our class IV trips in Maine we recommend that you have basic swimming skills.

What should we bring?
You need to bring a, fleece or under armour, shorts, swim suit, foot protection (beach shoes, or sport sandals etc.), any medication you are on, and a dry set of clothes for your ride home. Everything that you wear will get wet so plan accordingly. Please do not bring valuable items (i.e. expensive clothes or shoes, jewelry, non-waterproof cameras or other items) on the raft. Under a wetsuit you will wear swimwear or insulated synthetic winter underwear (No COTTON) on cold spring days. On cold days wear wool socks with your wetsuit booties for extra warmth.

Can I rent a wetsuit?

Yes we rent wetsuits, booties, and sell river shoes, fleece and river wear.

What type of meals are served?
We serve a barbeque lunch with a choice of steak, chicken, or a vegetarian option with salads, Moxie Baked Beans, dessert, and juice or ice water on the rafting trip.

How often do trips run?
Daily May-October

How many people and rafts go on a trip?
Raft trips generally have 4-8 rafts per trip.

What if weather is bad?
Trips run rain or shine. You are going to get wet.  In 25 plus years of rafting we have only cancel one rafting trip.  In the event we have to cancel a trip we will issue you a trip credit or rain check for a future trip.
