Overview

Maine Kennebec Super Trip
Two days, 23 miles of fun and adventure, inflatable kayaking, rafting, 10 person indian canoes and a float plane moose safari. On the first day of this Maine adventure we inflatable kayak the challenging class II and III whitewater rapids on the Kennebec River. Along the trip we stop for a deli lunch and a optional hike to MOXIE FALLS, Maine’s highest water fall. After the day on the  Kennebec River we return to Lake Moxie Camps. The float plane lands on Lake Moxie and picks you up for an aerial moose safari and scenic tour of the Kennebec River Valley. The second day of this whitewater adventure we raft the thundering class IV and V whitewater rapids of the Kennebec River Gorge!

Kennebec Super Trip includes:
2 days on the river, 2 nights platform tents, two breakfasts, 1 dinner, 1 riverside steak and chicken barbeque and 1 deli lunch, Scenic float plane tour. Cabin upgrade from platform tents additional $15.00 per person per night.

All trips are conducted by licensed Maine Whitewater Guides. Moxie Outdoor Adventures provides whitewater river equipment, rafts, canoes, inflatable kayaks, camping equipment, tents, sleeping pads, all meals beginning with lunch the first day and ending with lunch on your last day and access to the East’s most beautiful and remote stretches of whitewater. This is a true Maine wilderness escape! 

 

Itinerary

Kennebec River Super Trip Itinerary:

You can Check-in anytime after 3pm at Lake Moxie Camps in The Forks, Maine. If you are arriving later than you planned please let us know the after hours phone number at Lake Moxie Camps is 207-663-2105

Day 1:
Breakfast buffet begins at 8am. 9:30 - Check in for a day of  funyaking and voyageur canoeing. Bus departs at approximately 10:15. Lunch is included on the river and an optional hike into Moxie Falls is sometimes included.  You will be back to Lake Moxie Camps approximately 4:00 - 4:30 pm. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing around Lake Moxie.

The floatplane is scheduled to pick you up at the Lake Moxie dock after the first day at approximately 5:30 pm for your scenic tour and aerial moose safari. It is not uncommon to see the mighty Maine Moose in a local bog or pond. Flight times and arrival are sometimes adjusted due to the unpredictable Maine weather.  We will keep you posted as to float plane arrival times.

Dinner is served between 6:30-7:30. It includes 1/2 roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, salad, iced tea, water, and desert.

Day 2:

Breakfast buffet begins at 8am.
Check in is at 9:30 for your whitewater rafting trip on the Kennebec River. Bus departs at approximately 10:15. Riverside Barbecue Lunch is included on the river and you will be back to Lake Moxie Camps and finished by 4pm.

From Points South:
I-95 North to Exit 133 in Fairfield, Maine. Follow Rte 201 North 65 miles to The Forks. Pass through Skowhegan and then Bingham (23 miles to The Forks). Once you reach The Forks look for our signs. The first one you will see is our office sign continue past for seven miles you will see our blue sign and the bridge crossing the Kennebec River. Take the right BEFORE THE BRIDGE turn onto the Moxie Road. DO NOT CROSS THE BRIDGE follow the Moxie road for 5 miles it will end at Lake Moxie look for the second blue sign. Turn right onto the dirt road go 2/10ths of a mile you will see Moxie Outdoor Adventures on the left.

From Points North:
Take I-95 south to Exit 157 in Newport. Take Rte 2 West to Skowhegan. In Skowhegan take Rte 201 North. Pass through Skowhegan and then Bingham (23 miles to The Forks). Questions

If I have younger children can the Supertrip be altered to accommodate my family?

Yes provided the children are at least 6years old for the Lower Kennebec portion
of the rafting trip and at leat 8 years old for the inflatable kayaking trip.

Do you have to take the Float Plane ride?

No, we can adjust the price accordingly if you have members of your party
that would prefer not to take the ride. The float plane ride is weather dependent.

Can we substitue the inflatable kayaking trip and raft two days on the Kennebec River?

Yes you do have that flexibility.

What is served for breakfast and dinner?

Breakfast is a buffet that includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes and
or frenchtoast, hash browns, bagels, juice, coffee etc. Dinner is a family style
roast chicken dinner, mashed potatoes, salad, vegetable, dessert, milk, coffee,
iced tea. We do offer a pasta/vegetarian option.

What to Bring

 

This is important for your enjoyment on all our river adventures

What to bring:

Bathing suit and towel
River shoes, beach shoes shoes you can get wet
Fleece, sweater, hat, wool or synthetic top, socks, (NO COTTON, it gets wet and dries slowly) and windbreaker for cooler days
Change of clothes, including dry footwear and towel for after the river
Sunscreen, any medications, inhalers, etc.: Your guide will have a drybag on the river if you need special medication
Sleeping bags/pillows/towels if you are lodging in platform tents, just towels for showering if you
are lodging in a lakeside cabin
Camera, waterproof preferred for river trips.
